You don't have a main character, you start with a few which you can switch to control, and with time, you build friendship with the rest, so you can play and upgrade them. to keep building and upgrading your base and also to keep alive the community. In your base you can build a variety of facilities to make your survivor's life easier, to craft items, to defend, etc. You need to build a community which start with a few characters, find a suitable place to establish a base, scavenge resources, items, etc. The note book-like UI is a nice touch and brings some immersion. Some of the zombies and characters look a bit cartoony, but in general they look decent. Graphics are nice, not great, but they are ok for the time of the game. It's really well done, it makes you feel part of the world. The character's voice acting is really nice, the missions dialogues, the random dialogues between characters, etc.
The music is awesome, it changes in different situations preparing you for what's coming, and feels really immersive. Sound effects are great, every special zombie has a unique and distinct cry, weapons, cars, combat, common zombies, etc.
